Injections are one of the most common health-care procedures. Five to ten percent of some 16 billion injections administered worldwide each year are given for immunization.

As most of us already know, unsafe injections, repeated use of one syringe and/or unsafe practices in relation to immunization are not only responsible for cases of hepatitis B and C, HIV, and other serious and potentially lethal side effects suffered by vaccine recipients, but may also pose an occupational hazard to health providers and an environmental hazard to communities. Furthermore, unsafe injection practices can seriously impede the progress made by immunization programmes, and have a substantial effect on global immunization coverage.

As simple as the title says; with some friends on social media, we’re trying to campaign for the awareness of Safe Injections for Pakistan. As of today, it has been 4 exact months that the disastrous floods hit Pakistan and left over 2.4million people devastated by it’s killer properties. Thousands died, 2.4million, collectively, displaced and over 6million people affected in a relatively more dangerous aftermath i.e. lethal waterborne diseases! As 4 months have past, over 7million people still end up in make-shift tents across the country, fighting winters without sufficient food, shelter, warm bedding and hope & will to live…

All due to lack of our attention…

Do we really think that those pennies, old clothes and used & broken toys that we donated were enough? Think again, especially of your child who just got done with his/her meal! And now think of those millions of innocent souls who have been brought at the risk of starving to death, more each week and their helpless cries aren’t heard well. One reason is because the so-called free-media isn’t telling you anymore of the flood victims because it only shows what sells! Sugar crisis should be covered but dying children are of less importance. Political talks and debates are more important to broadcast as if the nation wouldn’t digest its meal without two or more idiots bashing one another or just blindly justifying their parties stance! I wouldn’t forget the shamelessly intentional ignorance of our new-born immature, bias and commercial media, would you?

(Above is neither a bias nor a generalized approach and I do appreciate those media powerhouses that care and still uphold the humanist spirit.)

You and I are a voice within, of ourselves; the commons, the nation! We have to raise our voices not only for our rights but  also for the very duties of the society we so are bound to and live within; our home! Without recognizing social responsibilities, remember, we’re only animals, when not social animals!

What have you begun to think of? Planning to form another protest, block roads and signals, hurdle traffic, yell & shout and come back home to sleep in your cozy beds? Do you really think that by demonstrations and protests you pay your part in large & full? Do you believe that protests are a practical way to DOING something? NO! you just make half sense of something being bad or wrong without being practical over SOLVING & CORRECTING it; you’re just another pessimist critic with an escapist approach towards the issue esp. when you have been doing anything constructive & corrective in lieu with those issues you protest for!

Be true to yourself and remember, If you are not a part of the solution, you are a part of the problem! It is high time we; you & I we, should start being more of a benefit to dear brotherhood we opened our eyes in and would surrender our souls from!

Approximately half a million helplessly poor women IDPs are pregnant; about 45000 babies to be delivered per month, that too without food, clean water, supportive vitamin, labor health care, nutrition, medical aids and medicines! Over 187,000 innocent little children remain malnourished as you read me and most of them are directly affected by waterborne diseases like malaria, cholera, diarrhea to name a few. Malnourishment causes several deficiencies that lead not just to to lethal diseases but to death in worst cases. At least 100,000 or more of among these children are at high-risk of dying due to starvation…

WE; You & I, or most of us who afford internet hence read this would probably be unaware of any such experiences that the above paragraphs depict of. I believe that is the only reason we are not ‘feeling‘ the pain, or at least not as much as our humanist hearts are capable of!

The flow of emotions in my mind may have made me sound a bit sarcastic, which I must tell I don’t intend to! But you have to believe me that just like I had felt the terrible, very horrifying and very terrible pain within when my newborn son Musa bin OmEr- I’m a fresh father, for the first time- was not well thus kept in I.C.U for 4 straight days & 5 night right after he was born- I feel no different for all those hundreds of thousands kids who’re at greater risk!!!  I hadn’t even held my son in my arms for long, I couldn’t sleep, I didn’t want to leave the I.C.U door hence lodged on to the waiting-area chairs for it was my son in pain and I couldn’t help. I didn’t feel like eating for the food or my taste-buds had lost the feel. I was helpless but hopeful, and then Almighty helped straightening everything through some angels I now recognize in the form of the-then doctors.

Each of these 187,000+ malnourished and dying kids (God protect them!) is someone’s Musa too if not fully mine… but I do know that his parents would be as worried too! Almighty has given me resources enough to cope with any situations but what about those who themselves can’t eat even a full meal a day and live in make-shift tents without sufficient shelter, a blanket… how would they be able to protect their Musa? How many times a day they’d be dying within…?

What a bitter truth to digest!

That leaves me depressed and in intense pain, to heal which I too am trying to scratch all itches to first heal their pains! Only this way would I be able to reach serene relaxation!

I may not be good with words and I do know that words have never been capable enough to convey the feelings & emotions one feels within. I may not be much convincing either, but if even a single word of mine could wake up the humane human inside you, I’d feel like a victor of today who brought out a savior of humanity, that you could be!

Don’t worry, I am not taking my words to somewhere I’d call for a donation, not at all. I’m just letting you know that my heart aches, I remain sleepless when I see our flood-hit brothers’ kids with my shameless naked eye in such a state- that resembles quite close to that heart-wrenching images, those of Somalian kids’ pictures- and for the same reason I am rolling unlike a stone but a snowball to gather some mass of your support. The picture above is a months old story (Reference), I don’t even know if Khadija made it to life… I so hope and pray she did. But if we kept as ignorant and as mute as we have been, Khadija and kids like her would keep dying, all due to lack of our ignorance…

Let’s begin now to be a little more aware of ourselves and our duties at least!

Pakistan Floods are NOT over, even the water levels in directly hit areas haven’t gone down to zero. Those who think there’s nothing more to do, are cordially invited to spare a day or two and come along to see that it is going to take more than just prayers & donation; in fact years to heal and rehabilitate the devastated ones, not days!

The quest for humanity hasn’t either just started, with crushed faith it had long been awaiting us; the helping hands to step up to save what’s our own. We must recognize our priorities which according to all religions- of and in the world- is about keeping the humanist spirit up and going out in the wild to help those in dire need. Saving lives is not only the greatest job to do, it should as well be considered the highest priority of all.

Let’s do it in just any way we can. Let us be the saviors of today and victors of always just by performing nothing else than our duties and doing our parts the way we are supposed to. Let us save what’s our own!

Hint: To start doing our part, we first need to wake up and then think, plan and start doing!

It may look a little lengthier which it sure is, I suggest it be read for it doesn’t only put before you the facts & figures you won’t see on news, but also it gives a short brief on how our SOS module can easily raise a challengingly huge donation of $1 Million (at least) just by your joining/liking us! This 5 minute read is all we want you- whenever you can- to donate to those 107,000+ Children fearing death.

THE CAUSE & THE CONTEXT

Past is long gone, future is still to come yet addressing us through the present. Let’s talk about what the recent past has put to our attention which my friends, would endanger our future if not quickly handled.

Recent floods in Pakistan- endorsed by UN Sec. General to be the largest catastrophe of recent times on the face of earth- haven’t just taken a 2000+ lives & displaced 24million people but their aftermath has also put to threat more than 4million lives! As World Health Organization reports, 3.5million innocent Children alone are at the risk of death due to the recent outburst of waterborne diseases ( http://bit.ly/dBoNnh ) which have started to kill, already ( http://bit.ly/pkfld1 )!

Things are more serious than the news media tells. On ground situation is so furious that it shivers your spine when being there! On a serious note, we so need to wake up.

700,000 cases of acute diarrhea, 1,000,000 (a million) cases of skin disease, 183,000 cases of lethal malaria have so far been totaled as of today, September 24th, 2010! 400,000 pregnant women- so far estimated- expect 45,000 deliveries each month and still, 1.4million people still reside at makeshift camp/tent cities even after 2 exact months to date!

Recent stats claim approximately 107,000+ innocent little Children are at the verge of threat; a life-threat that is! Since our raised-a-billion-fingers-at Govt. is still shamelessly busy with making ‘effective begging techniques’ basis of which I don’t approve of, and since media coverage- both domestic and int’l- is of not much help either, and since most of the world is discriminatory towards us, as Nan Buzard, Director Red Cross states (ref: http://n.pr/98YXLl & ( http://bit.ly/pkfld2 )), and since the donor-fatigue inclusive of lack of trust in most of our public institutions is another major reason for the lack of aid we face in Pakistan today.

THE CONCEPT

We, therefore, decided to either find a way or make our own; hence finally come up with an effective way that focuses more on the corporate sector- so to achieve more from lesser sources in lesser time- and itself is as quick-selling as the sensitivity of the situation.

We’ve almost completed a corporate module to go that initially aims to raise $1 Million on SOS basis- to help provide the critically needed support to those best deserving- simultaneously offering an interestingly high return of likely the same value to our donors-cum-sponsors.

Another salient & distinguishing feature of our module is to ensure the lowest possible administrative cost. F.Y.I ‘most’ of the NGOs in county, spend a big chunk from your donations on the administrative & fund-raising expenditure; from 25% up to 40% e.g. Agha Khan Foundation spends 27.1% ( http://bit.ly/AKFexp ). International non-profit average around 15% to 25%, yes big names inclusive! We shall proudly & positively distinguish by holding the administrative & fund-raising cost lowest, it possible, by even less than 3%! This, my friends, is one of the reasons it took us long to finalize the module.

We have achieved quite many milestones so far. I’d share them soon. A couple of formalities still put this module pended; a major one has almost been accomplished, so shall the rest be!

Even after smoking three consecutive sticks I fail to imagine, let alone picture as to how would Hafiz Mughees Sajjad Butt be feeling- before surrendering his soul due to simultaneous clubbing- as his dear younger brother, his due responsibility to take care of and bring-back-home-safe, his cricket-mate, his bond-for-life little Muneeb Sajjad Butt had been brutally, barbarically beaten to death bleeding before his very eyes?

I had heard within I can’t blog this…

But I do have to blow-off. I don’t know why but I always have to…

These two young brothers from Mouza Buttar, Sialkot- Muneeb Sajjad Butt, 17, a student of 9th grade and his elder brother Hafiz Mughees Sajjad Butt, 19, of Intermediate, on a suspicious of armed robbery resulting in a murder near Haji Pura- were brutally clubbed to death by a heinous local mob consisting on 5/five amidst a circled crowd- and that’s just not it- catering also the shameless presence and endorsement of multiple law enforcement & rescue agencies i.e. Police and Rescue 1122!

Please be informed that both the brothers were killed on-spot while the Police men besides ensuring the due process of law, ensured their first-row presence amongst encircled crowd cold-heartedly listening to the helpless yet heart-tearing cries allowing the killing by not stopping the barbaric torture on both teenagers ‘slowly’ being dispatched to heavens, one after another. As the timeline of the footage keeps running while Muneeb is already dead and Mughees is being clubbed, several voices from the crowd even suggest bringing petrol to burn the brothers! Nobody even cared to raise a voice against tossing and further humiliation of the dead bodies… sadly!

I has always wondered if we have long lost the upholding of Amar bil ma’roof and Nahi an’il Munkir factors!

Also, while the tractor-trolley dragged both brothers’ dead-bodies around the city, it was escorted by a Police vehicle all the way to the square both Hafiz Mughees Sajjad Butt & Muneeb Sajjad Butt’s bodies were then hanged upside down. More disgustingly, the very tractor-trolley rode a police man too!!!

I believe they stood all so numb to such heinous  an act extreme brutality and shame because they are accustomed to practising it regularly!

This, my friends, took place in Pakistan and that too, in the city if Iqbal! My existence here is shattered and my association with a nation such people have acquaintance with is ashamed, so very much ever since. I feel much more insecure now, just like Maho had said!

Please note that I neither establish anywhere the innocence of both brother nor I reject the accusations upon them- of murdering Bilal and leaving three others wounded- as made by the mob while it clubbed them to death for the same. Because there were aired different versions ever since the news and because I was not there and I didn’t witness the context either, hence I must not benefit from this the murdered brothers for if I do, this wouldn’t be a fair write-up you’re reading! It is the matter of comprehensive investigation and then, courts of law! On my part and in my personal opinion, it would be too soon to weigh. Let the investigators and judiciary come up with the verdict and we shall see the black & white. (Protesters on roads, please remember conducting a fair demonstration and NOT influenced by emotions!)

What I condemn here in this writing of mine is not the ‘innocents killed’ but for the ‘humanity butchered‘! Thick or thin, it doesn’t matter whatsoever Mughees & Muneeb’s crime be, there is no reason, no court, no law on planet earth and beyond that allows and justifies such barbaric an act that disgusts not just the humanity but the very existence of Mr. Human itself! I condemn not only the mob but also the crowd for its impotency! Below, a line taken from an editorial published in a local English newspaper questions well;

“Is this what we are? Savages??? So utterly bereft of a speck of humanity that a crowd of ordinary men are passive spectators to public murder?“

Too much barbarism our society have inherited- esp. the lower middle class in suburbs that is hardly even educated- I don’t really know from where in deed!  May be, like some people suggest that such brutality has been taught by the Police (here, here, here, here, here and alas, here) & Army  (here) and some say that the continuous state neglect helped develop such extreme frustration resulting into violence, brutality and extremism but I believe- in my personal opinion- it is unfair to blame others for one’s own deficiencies, deprivations and misconducts.

In India, which is always highlighted for minority suppression, incidents of similar sort are often reported- I know of and possess footages of many- but not to this extent of barbaric extremism esp. to Hindus, in my knowledge at least. In India, it’s a different story because it mostly happens due to prevalent Religious & Racial Intolerance and that too for most of their religious scriptures and organizations uphold so. But the Sialkot brutality took place due to Human Intolerance, I must say which most of Pakistan nowadays is getting more at the verge of, by each day unfortunately! I so suggest that we the citizens should really look deep in to this matter rather than wasting time & energy in pessimist protests and negative criticism!

Anyway, how would these illiterate people know when they cannot even study the Holy Quran themselves hence follow the Maulvi’s version whatever it is, they just believe it for they can neither verify nor challenge it due to their own ignorance (well, that’s one of the major reasons religious extremism/terrorism still prevails in Pakistan!)… they don’t really care!

And neither do we; you & I WE!!! Because we can go on viewing all newspapers, websites, blogs and videos that add a spice to the criticism and condemn out aloud the incompetence of Government or System, but we can’t ourselves take an initiative to heal the wounded society! When it comes to clearing the mess we caused, we’re just too busy with our lives and jobs and friends and stuff to bother even a little for what’s our own and requires immediate attention!

Like the most of youth nowadays, we can go on blocking roads, disrupting traffic holding demonstrations protesting aloud ‘aggressively‘ demanding a tough lesson for the accused mob, but hardly could even a single voice be heard yelling for a righteous call for educating & promoting peace. Likewise, most of our loud media goes on bombarding the disgusting video 24/7 spreading yet-invisible chaos at the back of our mind, but there’s no talk-show held to discuss the cure for our very society for nothing else than what’s spicy and sells quick is all it’s (our premature media’s) concern. (Please acknowledge that the ridiculously repeated bombardment of these videos by our media hurdles bad our call for international donations in these critical times of national disaster; flood that is! I have also got in touch with the Federal Minister Rehman Malik on this who agreed to my stance and- I hope- would further advise the media power houses to stop such stupidities.)

Friends! criminals would inshaAllah and ultimately be punished like they’re supposed to, but shall their punishment eradicate such brutality, extremism and this barbarism we possess within?

You tell me, should we only seek for the toughest punishment, shall it end the pain you & I felt from this incident all for once?

Shall we do nothing about it and get immune towards such occurrings?

Well if you think so, we’d stand as just another face in the same crowd who equally participated in this lynching by not doing anything to stop it!

Also, thanks to Rehman Malik for promising the justice to be served in it’s purest form i.e. ‘an eye for an eye‘ basis- he stated that the killers shall be hanged likewise, at the same place! Thanks for all these three heads for their very due and extraordinary follow-up that the mob of all the desperados has been arrested, also the Policemen have been turned in too, regardless of seniority though

Pakistan Air Force arranged a hurriedly organized media tour yesterday to prove that the base is not under US control. But this does not appear to be the whole truth. Over the past eight years, Pakistan Air Force offered and withdrew different types of facilities to US military at the base. The Americans used the base mostly for logistical purposes and not to stage direct attacks against targets in Afghanistan or inside Pakistan’s northwestern region. But there were times when the number of US personnel at the base crossed 200, including special-forces operatives. According to GlobalSecurity.org, Pakistani newspaper Daily Times claimed on 10 March 2004 that the airbase was under US control, “with an inner ring of facilities off-limits to Pakistan’s military,” according to the paper. But in August 2010, there is credible information that new special residential barracks for US personnel have been constructed. Unfortunately, Pakistan has accepted to house US personnel who will ensure the country’s doesn’t ‘misuse’ the new F-16s. So despite Pakistan Air Force’s – and US Embassy’s – sharp reaction, it is clear there is some merit to the statement of Federal Health Secretary Khushnood Lashari that US presence at the base is preventing using the base for flood relief operations. Another related issue is the level of Pakistani involvement in CIA drone attacks inside Pakistan that have killed a huge number of innocent Pakistanis and turned Pakistani citizens against their country.

• “Health relief operations are not possible in the flood-affected areas of Jacobabad because the airbase is with the United States,” Mr Khushnood Lashari said while answering a question asked by Senator Semeen Yusuf Siddiqui of PML-Q during an appearance at the Senate Standing Committee on Health on Wednesday.

• “It is very unfortunate that Americans can launch a drone attack from Shahbaz airbase but the government is helpless even in using the country’s base for relief operations,” Senator Semeen Yusuf Siddiqui said while talking to this correspondent.

• Dr Jahanzeb Aurakzai, coordinator of the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Centre, said: “Foreign health teams could not start relief operations in remote areas because there are no airstrips close to several areas, including Jacobabad.“

• Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has ordered Pakistan Air Force to form an air bridge of relief supply for Jacobabad which has been cut off from the rest of the country and make operational an airfield near Sibi for immediate supply of relief goods to flood-hit areas in the vicinity. The floods have not only shown the ineptitude of the Pakistan government but also the confusion that prevails within government institutions. On Wednesday the Federal Health Secretary informed a Senate Panel that Jacobabad Air Base / Shahbaz Air Base was under the US control so health relief operations could not be provided.

On Thursday, the Pakistan Air Force through APP issued a strange press release stating that “certain sections of the print and electronic media have wrongly reported that the Pakistan Air Force Base Shahbaz (Jacobabad) is under the control of the US. This has been spread by uninformed people”. So was the Pakistan Air Force referring to Federal Health Secretary Khushnood Lashari as “uninformed? After all, it was he who gave out the information about the Base being under the US control and to a Senate Panel.

While the Pakistan Air Force stated that Shahbaz Air Base was under complete command and control of the Pakistan Air Force and was being used extensively for providing relief and medical care to the affected people of the area, the US embassy had already issued another interesting response to the Khushnood Lashari’s claim. On Thursday, the US press note issued from Embassy of US in Islamabad stated that Shahbaz Air Base in Jacobabad is a Pakistan Air Force Base and is commanded and operated by Pakistan Air Force forces. The base is home to Pakistan’s newest F-16 Block 52s, which arrived this summer. Pakistan Air Force personnel maintain high security standards there to ensure that the technologically advanced aircraft can be securely maintained and operated from the base. On August 18, at the request of the Pakistan government, US Air Force C-130 aircraft flew to Shahbaz Air Base from the Pakistan Air Force Base in Rawalpindi bringing urgently needed relief supplies for Jacobabad.

What was left unsaid was that it was the Pakistan Air Force that was denying all manner of access to the airbase because of the presence of US personnel who had come along with the Block 52 F-16s, which were delivered at this base and had US conditions attached to the delivery of the planes, including the presence of US personnel to “keep an eye” on how the planes were used by the Pakistan Air Force. While the Pakistan Air Force was responsible for the security of the base, it was the pressure from the US on security grounds that was preventing access to the base-even for Pakistanis who had been involved in carrying out building work at Shahbaz.

So, it appears that both the US military and the Pakistan Air Force together are responsible for the relief work hurdles as news from the ground shows that the hurdles are very much there. Hopes are fading away to provide food and clean drinking water to 500,000 to 700,000 people who have been displaced from Jacobabad, Thul, Kandhkot, Kashmore Ghouspur and Karumpur (currently camping in Dera Allah Yar) as Jacobabad was still no-go area for choppers or C-130 due to security concerns to the American personnel deployed at the Jacobabad Air Base / Shahbaz Air Base, well-informed sources told The Nation on Thursday. Organizers of national and international NGOs told The Nation on condition of anonymity, when contacted on telephone, that they could not reach Jacobabad to provide food and drinking water to as many as 500,000 to 700,000 flood victims due to strict security conditions adopted for Shahbaz Air Base. Although Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman has ordered Pakistan Air Force to form an air bridge of relief supply for Jacobabad which has been cut off from the rest of the country and make operational an airfield near Sibi for immediate supply of relief goods to flood-hit areas in the vicinity, however, Jacobabad is still the only location in Pakistan where rescue choppers of Pakistan Air Force have no access to carry out relief operations.

The sources told this scribe that foreign health teams could not start their relief operations in remote areas because there are not airstrips close to several areas, including Jacobabad. The town has been evacuated and 500,000 to 700,000 people have been affected. The people displaced from Jacobabad, Thul, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghouspur and Karumpur are camping in Dera Allah Yar.

Earlier, it was reported that Shahbaz Air Base was under control of American personnel who were guarding the air base while monitoring the operations of F-16s against militants and extremists in FATA and Waziristan. As one seeks to discover the reality on the ground, the flood-stricken people of this devastated area of Sindh continue to suffer.

Self Explanatory Reports of Asian Human Rights Commission:

It is reported in the media that relief operations for around 700,000 persons could not be carried out because an airbase in Jacobabad district, Sindh province, is controlled by the US forces. The US forces denied permission for the air strips to be used to deliver much-needed relief to the adjoining areas which are submerged in water and where 700,000 people are trapped. As there is no other air strips in the vast area close to Jacobabad and its adjoining areas, the authorities are finding it difficult to drop the relief in the flood-affected areas.

According to the Daily Dawn, the largest circulated English newspaper, Khushnood Lashari, the health Secretary during an appearance at the Senate Standing Committee on Health, revealed that health relief operations are not possible in the flood-affected areas of Jacobabad because the airbase is under the United States control. The coordinator of the Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Centre, Dr Jahanzeb Aurakzai, told the standing committee of the Senate that foreign health teams could not start relief operations in remote areas because there are no airstrips close to several areas, including Jacobabad.

Jacobabad and its neighbouring areas have been evacuated and 500,000 to 700,000 people have been affected. People displaced from Jacobabad, Thul, Kandhkot, Kashmore, Ghouspur and Karumpur are camping in Dera Allahyar, Balochistan province.

The Jacobabad airport was leased to the US forces at the start of war on terror to provide air facilities to the US forces including fuelling and stopovers. Since then it has been treated as an exclusive base for US forces. In one case, two journalists of a television channel when visiting the Jacobabad airport in 2006, were arrested and tortured severely for many months for making a story on the airbase.

Asian Human Rights Commission Further Confirms That:

Drone jets are also flown from Jacobabad Air Base / Shahbaz Air Base to attack suspected militants and their strong holds inside Pakistan and Afghanistan killing hundreds of suspected militants.

After the refusal of US-controlled air base to provide assistance in the provision of relief to the affected persons of the worst floods in the history of Pakistan, the Pakistan Air Force is trying to form an air bridge of relief supply for the victims in Jacobabad. Nevertheless, at a time where road transportation is impossible, the denial of permission to use Jacobabad Air Base / Shahbaz Air Base to reach out to the victims has undoubtedly slowed down the process, while aid is urgently needed as food get scarce and children are falling sick due to lack of drinkable water. The longer it takes for the aid to reach the affected families, the higher the toll in human lives will be.

It is very regrettable and ironic that a country cannot use its own air strips at the time of a natural disaster of such scale that it was qualified as ‘the worst I have never seen’ by the UN Secretary General. The leasing of the airbase commenced when there was a military government but when a civilian government came into power with the vote of people, the US forces have not deemed it necessary to ask the permission from the civilian power to maintain control of the air base. The behavior of US forces is no different to that of a colonial power and this comparison is all the more relevant as they are not prepared to help the 700,000 victims who are facing hunger, water born diseases and are lying under the sky without shelter.

The United States pride themselves of being the country who has pledged the highest amount of aid to Pakistan since the beginning of the flooding but are de facto creating obstacles to the distribution of foreign aid to flood-affected. This news comes only a few days after a speech given at the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Pakistan’s independence in which the President of the United States asserted that ‘we will remain committed to helping Pakistan and will work side by side with you and the international community toward a recovery that brings back the dynamic vitality of your nation’. It seems difficult to understand how less efficient disaster relief will reinforce the vitality of Pakistan.

The US justifies their presence in the country by the necessity to fight terrorism and act in favour of the stability of the region. Throughout the history of the US war on terror and of their presence in Pakistan and in Jacobabad in particular, the US has looked down on the necessity to eradicate the root causes of terrorism and anti-American feelings in the region, which could have been achieved by valuing such things as the sovereignty of the people, the respect of human rights and humanitarian laws or the emphasis put on bringing assistance to the people. Those elements are necessary to guarantee the much-valued ’stability’ of the country. Unfortunately, keeping control of an airbase in another country without having received the explicit approval of a democratically-elected government, using this airbase to conduct extrajudicial executions of suspected militants and not authorising the authorities of this country to use this airbase at a time of major natural disaster therefore slowing down the transportation of food and medicine to dying children, is point by point at odds with those principles.

This is the worst kind of arrogance shown by the US forces at the time of the worst kind of disaster faced by the poor people. If US forces are afraid of anything then they should control the relief operations in the areas of Jacobabad Sindh and Dera Allahyar, Balochistan province.

After almost ten years of the unsuccessful fight against terrorism, the US forces should understand that allowing foreign aid to reach those in dire need as soon as possible should be a priority not only for humanitarian reasons but also to ensure the security of the US forces there.

Google Earth Reveals Secret History of US Base in Pakistan: Shamsi Air-Base (February 19, 2009 report)

The US was secretly flying unmanned drones from the Shamsi airbase in Pakistan’s south-western province of Baluchistan as early as 2006, according to an image of the base from Google Earth.

The image was obtained by The News, showed what appear to be three Predator drones outside a hangar at the end of the runway. The Times also obtained a copy of the image, whose co-ordinates confirm that it is the Shamsi airfield, also known as Bandari, about 200 miles southwest of the Pakistani city of Quetta.

An investigation by The Times yesterday revealed that the CIA was secretly using Shamsi to launch the Predator drones that observe and attack al-Qaeda and Taleban militants around Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan.

US Special Forces used the airbase during the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001, but the Pakistani Government said in 2006 that the Americans had left and both sides have since denied repeatedly that Washington was using Pakistani bases.

Dera Allah Yaar Drowned to Save Jacobabad Shahbaz Air Base: 17-08-2010

Former Prime Minister Mir Zafar Ullah Khan Jamali said that in order to save Shahbaz Air Base, Jamali Bypass was demolished and Dera Allyar was drowned; however he also said that Federal Minister Ejaz Jakharani was a liar.

Talking to a PakistanNews, former Prime Minister said that nobody has so far contacted him and no aid has also reached to him till now. Despite of orders given by Corps Commander Quetta for halting the demolishing of Bypass, the water was still spilled by cutting the bypass and drained into Dera Allaj Yaar, he added. This action was forcefully implemented under supervision of PPP’s Federal Minister Ejaz Jakharani even after civil administration, DPO, DCO and himself reached the site. Mir Zafar Ullah Jamali also said that when Shahbaz Air Base was being constructed, at that time DCO Jacobabad. Hell Was Produced to Save U.SC Colony at Jacobabad (Shahbaz Air Base): 17-08-10

JAFFARABAD— after causing vast flood devastation in Baluchistan’s District Jaffarabad, thousands of families are trying to flee by every available mean of transport to take refuge in other places on Monday. The flood flow from Jacobabad, after creating havoc in Jaffarabad’s District Headquarter Dera Allah Yaar, has hit Usta Muhammad and Gandakha.

According to details, after overflowing from the Jamali Bypass, flood water has entered Goth Jamali, ex Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali’s village and Kashmore Kot. Approximately 13,000 rural houses of Dera Allah Yaar have been devastated by the flood. The Deputy Commissioner of Jaffarabad, Dr. Ahmad Jamali, told that flood water has entered into thousands of houses in Sohbatpur, Usta Muhammad and Gandakha. People have been instructed to vacate these areas immediately.

The flood water has also damaged railway track and national highway and consequently the road and communication links of Jaffarabad have been cut from Sind and Punjab. Due to the scarcity of food items, people of Jaffarabad have been afflicted by famine while the Jamali Bypass is submerged in flood water.

Millions of internally displaced people (IDPs) of Dera Allah Yaar and various areas of Sindh have taken refuge in Sibbi and Dera Murad Jamaali and are passing a miserable life under open.

The recent high flood in Sindh has disconnected land link between Balochistan and Sindh as Indus highway become inundated here on Monday while, the land route to provide relief goods to Jafferabad and Naseerabad cannot be used now. The floodwater was closing in on various areas in Sindh and Balochistan on Monday land link between Sindh and Balochistan has disconnected and relief goods are being supplied through helicopter service.

The aging waters from the Indus River continued to inundate more villages and towns across the country. After causing havoc in Jacobabad the flood waters forced thousands of people climbed onto rooftops to save their lives as in Dera Allah Yar. Authorities are trying to evacuate or warn people in Rujhan Jamali, Nasirabad, and Usta Mohammad.

So YOU wish to help flood victims and are thinking of depositing your kind donations with Pakistan Government / Embassy / Consulate / President / Prime Minister Relief Fund? Or via some acquaintance’s or newbie organizations, or even youth ones noticed much nowadays?

Before you proceed, I’d like you to take a moment and learn some realistic point-of-view of us Pakistanis based on current-affairs, repeated occurring and experiences, not only accusations from inside out!

Being realistic, I’m ashamed that our unfortunate Mr. President Mr. Asif Ali Zardari- globally recognized, humiliated in fact, as Mr. 10 Percent- has recently been accused of misusing 300 Million Pound Sterling from Earthquake Aid, as his List of Assets grows with his Corruption Records, Pakistan’s credibility in international focus drops down. There are quite some more reasons associated with Mr. President that affect our donation call from international community, and for the same reason I have just dropped all those accusations for my motherland is so in dire need that I myself don’t afford to lose her a penny.

Friends, amongst 22 Million directly affected flood victims, at least 6 Million of brethren incl. 3.5 Million Children are at the verge of death- surrendering their innocent souls to heavens on daily basis, unfortunately- due to the recent break-out of lethal water-borne disease. Situation, on grounds is multiplied times more critical than the news & media shows!!!

In this scenario, while YOU my friend feel the pain of this disastrous flood victims’ on humanitarian basis without seeing anything in it for you, you would definitely want each, or at least most of your penny to reach the most deserving victims so to help cover their bodies, supply to them clean drinking water, put a shelter/roof over their heads, satisfy their hunger, heal their wounds, save them from these killer water-borne diseases and make them at peace! I so care for the same, too!

There’s no accountability, no transparency, no fair distribution, there’s not even reasonable disaster management resources & infrastructure hence neither reliability nor fair-use policy of funds & resources with Pakistan Government, not even with most Civil Defense & Security Institutions as we so lack it here, even after multiple disastrous lessons during Earthquake 2005. In case you haven’t noticed, please be informed that a large chunk of your donation(s) is to be consumed on administrative expenditure of various sorts (e.g. team’s necessities, transportation, goods carriage & forwarding, vehicle rental, fueling, labor & human resource, misc. aid supporting tools & infrastructure, resource repair & maintenance, communication, air related hires & purchases to name a few)- specially when you submit your donations via Pakistan Government and/or other regional, suburban, and small organizations! My purpose is not to discourage these organizations but in this case when the world ignores our desperate cries and with so very insufficient funds home we at Pakistan are in the direst need to best utilize each & every dime to save the millions at high-risk of lethal water-borne diseases which has already started to kill, brutally, we have to be realistic, rather more practical or the reality would just slam us down twith he very flow of this devastating flood-waters…

I don’t collectively reject the idea of above mentioned organizations, but  in this case, I don’t approve of them either. Reason being the intensity and sensitivity of the NOW situation here is so critical when 1 among every 10 of us is directly hit so bad that the death toll increases by each day due to lack of resources of all kind, we are in need to put our thoughts together for an instance and work out the effective mechanism & techniques- well, not of begging more often, and for more, but- of best utilization of the minimal resources.

Yes, all above mentioned esp. high maintenance organization may prove to be either handicapped or failing to deliver the worthwhile value from your donations- in this critical scenario at least if not otherwise. Yes, We do have to adopt the minimalist approach towards a critical business affair. We have to best utilize a buck for an outcome worth nothing less than 99.9 cents, or at least 90 in worst case… please! To achieve this, we either would have to form up & construct a low-maintenance hi-production infrastructure OR, as the wisdom suggest, opt from ones that already exist…

In my humble view, as an extract of my observation and a little experience on-ground, Pakistan Army, United Nations (UNHCR & UNICEF) and Edhi Foundation in my suggestion, are clear exceptions; not only the best channels but also most reliable organizations you can count on, and in most cases; rely upon! Reason being they have got the best available state of the art disaster management infrastructure and already are well-equipped with professional resources of every shape & size! These three wouldn’t have to spend a cut on the said from your donated amount, rather they might save & feed twice as much with the same buck that may reach halve otherwise! Best of all, closing balance in their statements each day actually is the actual sum of the actually factually received. More to my surprise, the same figure remains the opening balance next morning. Magical, isn’t it ?

Even where eagles fear to tread, only these organizations of repute and honor are capable of, and shall provide security even to the volunteers & aid workers from far above mentioned organizations. So, the only thing these three are dependent of, is your trust to be deposited with them in the shape of both monetary donations and/or commodities critically required. Money’s all yours, so the right to know the facts. I being a Son of my Soil; my dear motherland; Pakistan have no intentions to demonize any entity whatsoever, nor shall I support any incompetent! • Joining hands with Imran Khan, a programme has been launched in collaboration with “Pukaar”, a social welfare organization of the MKRF (Mir Khalilur Rehman Foundation), to provide relief to flood victims by collecting donations in cash and kind. Imran Khan said that the country is facing the biggest natural calamity faced by any nation in modern history. He said that it is unfortunate that lack of trust in the government’s ability to properly utilize relief funds is resulting in the loss of monetary support, both from domestic and international donors.

He said the programme would devise short and long term strategies, adding that, in the short term, necessary items would be distributed among the flood victims, while the long-term strategy would focus on rehabilitation of the displaced people. PAKISTAN ARMY

Pakistan Army is not only rescuing hundreds of thousands of the flood victims but also providing to them, on-spot doctors, lady doctors, nurses, paramedics and other supportive personnel country-wide. Pakistan Army has also disengaged and spared for the relief campaign hundreds of engineers and thousands of vehicles of all type incl. boats, planes, helicopters, excavators etc.

Also, at relief camps provide cooked food to the victims. All activities are monitored and quality-assured in person by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani.

This is to be noted that Pakistan Military itself has donated its one-day salary- of each and every employee- to the Flood Relief Fund. Moreover, the Independence Day (August 14th) Celebrations have been cancelled and the estimated expenditure of these huge celebrations has also been donated to the same. Soldiers, at all levels are tirelessly helping the needy round-the-clock, leaving no itch unscratched I must confess!

A Little Girl Protects Her Younger Brother From Killer Waters as Grandma Follows – (Image via Dr. Awab)

Relief etched on her face, a mother hands her newborn baby to a doctor – having trudged for two days across flood-ravaged Pakistan to seek safety. Just 26 days old and painfully weak, tiny Arman at last gets the food, medicine and clean water he needs at a makeshift aid shelter, while his exhausted mum Amtul looks on.

Born a week or so before the floods Arman, so close to being yet another victim of the appalling human tragedy unfolding in Pakistan, should now survive. But his one-year-old sister was not so lucky. She died just after reaching the shelter with Amtul, who battled 40 miles in 1000F heat to get there through waist-deep water full of floating dead animals.

Drained by the marathon journey in Amtul’s arms, the little girl’s body was just not strong enough to cope. But at least Arman is safe at last at the shelter in Nowshera, central Pakistan, set up by British aid charity Merlin. The story of the little boy’s survival is a rare beacon of hope amid Pakistan’s worst-ever humanitarian disaster.

Two weeks of flooding has killed more than 1,600 people! Yesterday, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani said 20 million people had been affected – around seven million of them children – and more than 300,000 homes wiped out. And the first case of deadly water-borne disease cholera was confirmed in the flood-ravaged north-west… with aid workers expecting hundreds more.

Harrowing images of the suffering are beamed daily from Pakistan on television. But disaster charities are warning that too much of the world is still turning a blind eye. Donations aren’t getting through. Aid agencies are frustrated at what they see as meagre donations from governments across the West, and disaster fatigue from donors.

Ian Bray, of Oxfam, said: “The international community has been slow off the mark and it is perplexing as to why. I think they took their eye off the ball and didn’t realise how big it was and didn’t act quickly enough.“

John Baguley of the International Fundraising Consultancy added: “I would have expected aid to be higher. People gave very generously to the Pakistan earthquake appeal, then for the tsunami and the relief in Haiti.“

“There may be an element of donor fatigue playing a part here.“

In Pakistan yesterday the lack of help led to angry scenes at camps set up by British aid agencies. At one – in a college in the tiny village of Khandarkale, Nowshera – women said they had been beaten and abused by men as they fought over sparse aid.

Noreen Fazalrabi, 37, said: “The men are stronger than us and beat us to take all the food.“

Ishrat Auronzah, 72, added: “I am old and weak, when the aid trucks arrive the men beat me to keep me away. If I take a food package they rip the clothes I’m wearing. We fear for our dignity and our young daughters are being raped but the government officials don’t care.“

More than 5,000 refugees are living in the camp sleeping 10 to a tent. Victims fled from houses a fortnight ago when flood waters reached 24ft. Most have no home to return to. And people have now been warned it will be four weeks before any electricity is switched back on in the region.

Chaos has also been created by a Government scheme where citizens require an identity card to get aid. People without a card will not be given any food or help. But hundreds of thousands lost the precious document when their homes were destroyed – so miss out on food, water and medicine.

As the victims of Pakistan’s worst-ever floods grow ever more desperate, the generosity of their fellow citizens is having unforeseen consequences in one aid camp. When a food distribution truck arrives laden with aid paid for by ordinary Pakistanis, fighting breaks out amongst the people it meant for. Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan reports further:

As they wait for help refugees sweat in the heat and a foul stench fills the air. People are living alongside cows, goats and bulls. Rotting carcasses covered in flies lie next to sleeping babies and children play yards away. Humans and animals all share the same water source, living and sleeping grounds. Although people are being given wash packs and medicines the help is not enough.

Doctors are seeing increasing cases of scabies, diarrhoea, eye infections, dysentery and other diseases because of lack of sanitation and hygiene in the camp. And yesterday charities warned the situation will only improve when the world wakes up to the scale of the disaster. Britons have so far donated £12million through the Disasters Emergency Committee. And the Government has earmarked £31milion in a United Nations appeal.

International donors pledged £29million to help tackle the crisis in the first 10 days – a hundred times less than that pledged for the Haiti disaster.

A spokesman for Merlin said: “It will take years for people to recover from this. The scale of the disaster is enormous and people will need a tremendous amount of help.“

PEOPLE ARE SCREAMING FOR HELP

Hundreds of British aid workers are in Pakistan to help the country cope with the worst natural disaster in its history. In her moving diary, Oxfam aid worker Rebecca Wynn, 32, of Oxford, provides an account of what life’s been like there:

Thursday 5 August: I’m in the Pakistani capital Islamabad. I get a briefing by the Oxfam emergency team, who warn the damage is unimaginable. People have seen their homes, shops, schools and crops flattened. The damage stretches across a country three times the size of the British Isles.

Friday 6 August: I’m standing in a street in Nowshera, two hours from the capital. It looks like a bomb has gone off. I’m in what used to be a thriving market place. Now the shops are shut, the stock ruined and swept away. The floods reached 17ft here.

The water is receding, but it’s left so much damage. At the bottom of the pools of water I see dead animals. They are rotting and the smell is unbearable.

Saturday 7 August: I move to the Swat region some 150 miles north of Nowshera and rain is causing the floods to rise. The tops of trees peek out of fields of water.

Roads are cut off by landslides. Bridges are down. People made homeless take shelter where they can, all screaming for help. We distribute soap, mugs, drinking water, sanitary towels and shelter kits by the thousand. But it’s not easy. We have to drive as far as we can then walk on foot for two miles through water.

Tuesday 9 August: I spend the morning on the phone helping launch an appeal back home for more aid. I pray that it works. I see children happily splashing around in the flood water, unaware of the devastation around them. A sip of water from a stagnant pool can be deadly. Aid is so desperately needed here.

Wednesday 11 August: Back in Nowshera. Along the road there’s a submerged graveyard and people bring plastic sheets to cover the graves of their loved ones to keep them safe. It is the most heartbreaking sight I have seen.

We continue on to a camp where Oxfam is providing water, which is a lifeline. Oxfam has provided water to over 100,000 people, but we need to reach more.

Thursday 12 August: I see a woman at the wreckage of her home. Tears pour down her face as she realises nearly all of her possessions have gone. We must help these people.

Comrades, a much high-alert is considered more than the word itself says! It has been feared since the first day of course and more ever-since the saddening loss of dozens of innocent little lives so far! 3.5 million children -6 million of total number- are at very high a risk of disease expected soon to be spread fast across the flood-ravaged regions. Various diarrheal diseases, which may in some cases be cholera — and dysentery present the illnesses of greatest concern, stated UNICEF in a press release. Hepatitis A and E, and typhoid fever pose another significant risk. As stagnating water provides breeding ground for mosquitoes, it further increases the threat of insect-borne diseases such as malaria, and not to forget, dengue! Skin disorder cases may also rise…

Cholera, which can spread rapidly after floods and other disasters, poses a serious threat, says the UN. The disease has been detected in the northwest, but there have been only a few reported cases so far. Typhoid and hepatitis outbreaks are also a risk as survivors of the floods, which have killed at least 1,600 people, have no choice else than to drink unclean water to survive!

Prevention of major outbreaks of infectious diseases is the emergency concern, and that in fact is what I refer to as a Red-Alert with a heavy heart as I quote UNICEF: as the worst-case scenario, the WHO projects that up to 1.5 million cases of diarrheal diseases (including up to 140,000 of cholera), 150,000 cases of measles, 350,000 cases of acute respiratory infections, and up to 100,000 cases of malaria can occur over the next three months.

W.H.O clearly defines the disease threat as ‘a second wave of death‘ and -as stated by a spokesman of Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)- is preparing to assist up to 140,000 people in case there is any cholera. OCHA said figures for how many people may have already died from disease following the floods were not available, but insisted work was being done to assess the situation. “The mortality caused by the incidence of these diseases is increasing. We don’t have figures at this moment, but WHO is working round the clock in support for the government to come up with numbers,” the OCHA spokesman continued.

At the Dera Ismail Khan government hospital in Peshawar on Monday, staff reported being inundated with hundreds of patients suffering from diarrhoea and vomiting. Many were turned away from the hospital as doctors focused their resources on helping sick children, staff said.

Readers, aid agencies have been observed complaining on the World’s ignoring Pakistan’s desperate cries, the aid no doubt is way too slow and yesterday, the lack of help led to angry scenes at camps set up by British aid agencies. People are literally screaming for help and we shouldn’t really count on and beg for any foreign aid for we, by the grace of Almighty are capable enough to stand by one another while lending and stretching our helping hands limitlessly;

“The international community has been slow off the mark and it is perplexing as to why. I think they took their eye off the ball and didn’t realise how big it was and didn’t act quickly enough.” said Ian Bray, of Oxfam.

John Baguley of the International Fundraising Consultancy added: “I would have expected aid to be higher. People gave very generously to the Pakistan earthquake appeal, then for the tsunami and the relief in Haiti.“

As an e-brochure by PKKH on Facebook read: “Pakistanis have learnt to help their own. No other nation in recent history has been through as much as Pakistanis have, and every time their resolve is tested they stand up taller than before. We do not demand, expect or need any foreign aid. We expect nothing from our rulers. We are capable of looking after our own and Allah is enough for us, for He is our protector.”, I so believe too that being such a Nation we can surely overcome such threats for we stand tall & tough as a Nation so awake and eager to SoS, we refuse to give up on one another and for sure we will sail smooth through any storms and floods…

Pakistan’s deadliest floods in decades killed more than 1,500 people and overwhelmed government efforts to provide aid, officials and relief workers said. More than 1,500 people have died in Pakistan’s northwestern province, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said Noor Muhammad, a press officer for the provincial development ministry. Government and private relief agencies are managing to provide “only 5 percent of what’s required,” Mujahid Khan, provincial spokesman for the Edhi Foundation, which runs Pakistan’s largest ambulance and rescue services, said by phone from Peshawar.

The flood’s death toll may rise to 3,000, said Edhi Foundation’s Khan. He spoke from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, previously called the North-West Frontier Province.

Officials in Pakistan’s other provinces — Punjab, Sindh and Baluchistan — braced for the floodwaters moving down the Indus River and its tributaries. The Sindh government ordered residents evacuated from locales along the Indus.

The floods, which according to U.K. charity Oxfam may be Pakistan’s worst in 35 years, may cut the production of rice, sugarcane and corn by about 10 percent to 15 percent, said Nasir Cheema, president of Pakistan’s Chamber of Agriculture.

Pakistani television networks showed survivors clinging to trees or debris in muddy, raging mountain rivers.

• Joining hands with Imran Khan, a programme has been launched in collaboration with “Pukaar”, a social welfare organization of the MKRF (Mir Khalilur Rehman Foundation), to provide relief to flood victims by collecting donations in cash and kind. Imran Khan said that the country is facing the biggest natural calamity faced by any nation in modern history. He said that it is unfortunate that lack of trust in the government’s ability to properly utilize relief funds is resulting in the loss of monetary support, both from domestic and international donors.

• Assuring proper utilization of donations by Imran Khan Flood Relief (IKFR) programme, Imran Khan said that funds would be distributed in a transparent way. Previously Webster G. Tarpley discussed and pointed out the role of Blackwater in Pakistan, it’s involvement in the bomb-blast at ladies market, Peshawar last week and killing of innocent Pakistani civilians and soldiers.

Since the Investigations by The Nation show that Xe Services, previously Blackwater, is carrying out targeted assassinations in Pakistan, supposedly without the knowledge of the White House. Dina Gusovsky- Russia Today Correspondent, Washington DC- talks to the Investigative Journalist Wayne Madsen as to what is the role of military contractors in Pakistan? Is outsourcing these operations a way to eliminate terrorists while the U.S. military publicly supports the Pakistani government?

Asif Ali Zardari dubbed “Mr 10%” an unknown happy-go-lucky son of a small-time businessman who struck gold by marrying one of the worlds most glamorous women Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benzair Bhutto. Taking advantage of his wife’s authority he is known to have taken kickbacks from many deals inside and outside of Pakistan. The most famous was a $4 billion deal to buy 32 Mirage jets from the French company Dassault. Documents, which include letters from Dassault executives, indicate an agreement was reached to pay a 5% “remuneration” – about $200m – to Marleton Business, a BVI company controlled by Zardari. Besides these many more kickback deals were taken with companies such as ARY Gold, Social de Surveillance (SGS), Cotecna, and ZPC Ursus, a Polish tractor company.

Zardari assets holding amount into hundreds of millions of dollars easily, Having 8 prime properties in the UK, of which once is the famous Rockwood Estate 365 acres in Surrey, worth £4.35m has now been sold and money sent back to the Govt. of Pakistan. Also 14 multi-million dollar mansions in the USA, including owning Holiday Inn hotel Houston, Texas Owned by “Mr 10%” and Iqbal Memon and Sadar-ud-Din Hashwani.

They (Zardari and Benazir Bhutto) also have huge business ventures in the Middle East running into hundreds of millions if not billion mark. Mr Zardari also has huge stakes in sugar mills all over Pakistan, which include: Sakrand Sugar Mills, Nawabshah, Ansari Sugar Mills, Hyderabad, Mirza Sugar Mills, Badin, Pangrio Sugar Mills, Thatta and Bachani Sugar Mills, Sanghar.

I have been in receipt of this extensive list of Asif Zardari’s Local and International holdings sent to me via a number of sources, in all honesty I have no way of precisely confirming the authenticity of this list but place it on this blog in an attempt to figure out what true what is simply hype. There is little doubt in my mind that this list may be quite close to being authentic considering the massive corruption that has plagued Pakistan in his previous two tenures in power (watch the video below), little to know that the Metamorphosis of 2008 which changed the way he appeared orchestrated after the assassination of his wife on 27th December 2007. Are we to believe in a ‘rejuvenated, honest by-the-books leader’, or are we gearing up to push Zardari further up into Pakistans Rich List of 2008 where he was previously ranked at #2 (also; dou number in urdu).

I can also suspect that the sudden revelation if this list could be a deliberate retaliation by the ‘agencies’ to push Zardari on the back foot and move off Musharraf’s impeachment attack. Whatever be the case this massive list is jaw dropping amazing, I have no idea about the total valuation of the wealth itemized here but I suspect it could easily be an aggregated wealth as listed = £900m / ($1.8billion) or more.

Today, while just going through the News Feeds on my Facebook, I happened to come across this video shared by a friend of mine (Ibtihaj Haqani) who always shares thought provoking stuff, specially this video below. Due to the on-going war at his homeland; Swat and his family had to migrate to Islamabad; the federal capital of Pakistan. His homeland Swat is the war zone of Pakistani Military & Security Forces against the TTP (Tehreek-é-Taliban Pakistan) backed TNSP (Tehreek-é-Niffaaz-é-Shariat Pakistan) and in our various sitting we have discussed realities of the war that media won’t tell. To me, his words & stories are more reliable than that of our mainstream media mostly represents the typical propagated tailored sort of news and coverage. I hope the recent mutual agreement by Pakistani Media on terrorism coverage policy brings some positive change.

Anyway, to cut short, label this response to be ‘islamist’, ‘fundamentalist’ or whatever… I believe it doesn’t matter whether it’s an intellectual, a student, a musician, a dancer or the labeled ‘fundamentalist’ for when motherland is under chaos, the pain & wounds we bear and yell because of, are same!!!

All Praise Belongs to Allah (Subhana’hu wa T’aala), and May the Salah and Salam of Allah (Subhana’hu wa T’aala) be upon our beloved Messenger (Peace and Blessing be Upon Him).

We write to you to enlighten you on the issue of Terrorism. The events of 9/11 happened well over 8 years ago, but consistently the topic props up again and again trying to making us Muslims feel more ‘guilt stuck’ than we already do if as though collectively we are all responsible. We cannot conclude that it was indeed the Muslim ‘fundamentalists’ who were responsible for 9/11, an article during that period stated Jewish extremists being the culprits as many of the high ranking officials avoided going to work that day and others sold off their stocks! It has also been claimed that the US Government has orchestrated the attacks against their own citizens as a prerequisite to a wage war against Islam. They do this to win over the hearts of the American people and to win over the minds of Muslims worldwide as has occurred to public speakers the likes of Salman al-Oudah, Yasir Qadhi, Yaser Birjas, Waleed Basyouni, Tawfique Chowdhury and the many more .

What is rather sad is that we are never bombarded with articles and speeches by our Muslim brothers about the oppression and injustice committed by the West in Pakistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya, Kashmir, Palestine, Somalia and elsewhere, nor do our speakers distinguish that whether it is the West doing all the killing directly or not, the bullets are funded and supplied by the Western powers. The death toll of is quite possibly more than 3 million Muslims over the last two decades, an asian news channel reported this week how US soldier gang raped a 14 year old Iraqi girl, they took pictures of it, her eyes closed, they later killed her and her family. This is one of thousands of incidences which go untold on mainstream news.

It’s altogether easy to believe news from CNN against Muslims is true though unfounded.  If you travel through the East or in the lands of the alleged perpetrators you will get to know what was missing from the news stories. We should ask ourselves when will it be that our Muslim ‘representatives’ will be bold enough to debate the roots of the problem leading to so called Muslim ‘fundamentalist’ activity? Why is it that the likes of the former Mayor of London Ken Livingston has to speak up in our defence? In all this whenever we are tested by Allah (Subhana’hu wa T’aala) we believe this is good for us as such instances separate the modernists from the ones who are firm upon their ‘Aqeedah (creed) and follow Qur’an and Sunnah.

A question to ask is why would these people commit such attacks and target the World Trade Centre? A country is as powerful as its economic trade. And economic trade fuels its military might, which in turn ensures its status to govern and rule over a country. Money can become scarce but through trading and commerce a government can generate more wealth and buy more weaponry and sustain a war. To make one of these factors collapse therefore is to destabilize a part of the triangle, a method practiced by US, UK, Israel and others. This is the perception that we conceive as to why target the Trade Centre, and in War there is casualty in both sides. This is the centre point which logic may conclude funds the atrocities, we have all witnessed for years in many countries by the hands of the Western military, and funds US military bases all over the world including Saudi Arabia, a presence which causes disunity between the people of those lands. Is democracy more just than the law of Allah (Subhana’hu wa T’aala)? Would the Rightly guided Caliphs permit this Big Brother style bases, a state within a state to govern the Muslim and mankind under man made law (this is clearly a dangerous issue within Aqeedah)?

We however ourselves do not promote Terrorism nor support Terrorism, and if labeled extreme, then like Dr. Zakir Naik state in acknowledgement yes we are extreme- “Extremely kind, Extremely Generous, Extremely courteous,…..And George Bush is the Biggest Terrorist”. If we are merciful towards mankind Allah (Subhana’hu wa T’aala) will be merciful towards us. We will like to enlighten you with a good speech by Dr. Zakir Naik on this topic in this 4 part video entitled “Is Terrorism a Muslim Monopoly?” which we found very interesting. About Dr. Zakir Naik’s Debate: Is Terrorism a Muslism Monopoly?

Took place in Mumbai in front of a jam packed crowd, at the Shanmukhananda auditorium on 11th Sept 2006. He also gave a similar lecture at Jeddah in the last week of September, 2006. Dr. Zakir Naik said that historic records proved that a large number of terrorist acts in the 20th and 21st century were committed by non-Muslims. The so-called global phenomenon of “Islamic terrorism/militant Islam” was a creation of the western governments and their media outlets, he said.

“Politics lies at the heart of labeling Muslims across the globe as perpetrators of terror acts,” he added.

Dr. Zakir, who is one of the Muslim world’s leading and most prolific speakers, quoted from the scriptures of other religions and proved that associating killing with Islam is incorrect.

“It says in the Book of Numbers that whoever worships other than God should be killed,” he said, referring to the Bible, yet such militant verses were conveniently ignored by the Western media.

“In every religion there are black sheep and the media keep putting these people forward. This is a media conspiracy and a way of pushing people away from Islam.” he added.

Dr. Zakir Naik said, “No religion encourages terrorist acts or violence. The word ‘Islam’ itself means ‘Peace, obtained by submitting yourself to the Almighty’. Anyone, be it Muslim or non-Muslim, who kills an innocent Muslim or a non-Muslim, kills the entire humanity. However, Islam goes a step further to say that if one saves innocent lives, the whole of humanity is saved. Injustice is the root cause of terrorism…”

He continued, “Palestinians are called terrorists just because they are fighting to get their land back.” By citing examples of LTTE (in Sri Lanka), IRA (in UK), Lord’s Salvation Army, which trains the young children to conduct terrorist attacks, and many other non-Muslim terrorist outfits he further said that, the lives claimed by these outfits are more than the ones by the Muslim terrorists.

Dr. Zakir said Naxalites/Maoists across India and the LTTE in Sri Lanka were non- Muslim terror organizations, which had had developed pan regional bases beyond national boundaries. Other such non-Muslim terror outfits included the United Liberation Front of Asom, National Democratic Front of Bodoland and All Tripura Tiger Force in the Northeast, Naik noted.

Drawing on international examples, Dr. Zakir said that the Japanese Red Army, Lord’s Salvation Army and the ETA in Spain were also non-Islamic in character and composition.

“So nothing is more removed from truth as to suggest that Muslims have monopolized terrorism,” said Dr. Naik. He said the Irish Republican Army, which was considered to be terrorist group, has a history of 100 years of violence against the British, but the British government doesn’t seem to be scared about them as they are about radical Islamic groups.

Besides, he also mentioned, “Even a single killing by a Muslim is condemned by Islam, whatsoever the reasons.”

On the Media, Judiciary and Politicians

Dr. Zakir appreciated the Indian media for being unbiased and upright while reporting the communal riots. He further expressed that it is the plot of the Western media to destroy Muslims. He also said that the media controlled by the political authorities is biased and does not portray the truth or reality. He stated, “Islam does not justify using wrong means to reach the right goals. People should not take the law in their hands.”

“India has seen maximum number of communal riots in recent years. Politicians have been using the ‘Divide and Rule Policy’ to secure their vote banks. However, the masses should not get instigated by them. Terrorism is a monopoly of politicians. People, regardless of their religion, wish to live harmonious lives, but politicians feed the feeling of hatred amongst them, ” he opined while speaking about the role of politicians in the society today.

“We should learn how to turn the tables and convey the real meaning,” said Dr. Zakir, while calling on Muslims to dispel the media’s vilifying of Muslims and the importance of having Muslim television channels and newspapers.

His vision was not merely a dream rather it was a divine invocation, an order from the spiritual domain, which was destined, to be executed, which already had Almighty’s approval, which He brought into existence for a special purpose.

The personality appointed by Almighty to propagate the underlying ideology, which ultimately laid the foundation of Pakistan, was Allama Iqbal. He was more than a scholar, more than a philosopher, more than a saint and much more than a visionary. We cannot attempt to sum up in one article what this legend really was, since he himself once said, “Iqbal himself isn’t aware of what Iqbal really is”. What we know and should always remember is that he was the one who ignited the spark of self-awareness in the Muslims of Sub-continent, who infused the passion to acquire freedom and independence in the blood of Muslim youth of the time. He was who unveiled the true meaning and spirit of Islam and hope in the otherwise pessimistic minority.

“Kia ajab meri nawa-haaye sahar gaahi say

Zinda ho jaye woh aatish kai teri khaak mein hai”

Allama Iqbal uplifted the spirits of Muslims at the time of great misery and darkness. At a time when the nexus of Hindus and the British rulers was leaving no stone unturned to damage Muslims, deploying all the resources and means to malign the Muslim identity and exerting full force to crush them as an ideological nation. The deceitful British rulers had no intention of doing any good to Muslims and instead they connived with Hindus to throw the Muslim nation in front of the Hindu scavengers as a helpless prey.

Allama Iqbal’s poetry was the divine voice from the sky that was channelized through Iqbal’s soul, it came as the true reflection of the message of Islam. The incredible message that revitalized the uncivilized Arabs, the message that triggered burning passion in the hearts of the Muslims of Sub-continent, infusing them with paramount courage. Allama Iqbal was most certainly the chosen one who was assigned the duty to rejuvenate the nation and to convey the glad tidings about the creation of Pakistan as a Muslim State.

He made Muslims realize, what they actually are, what their true stature is and that they shouldn’t be overwhelmed by any kind of complex, fear and frustration:

He imparted the message of hope and belief, the message of oneness of the Muslim nation and gathered the confused, scared and scattered Muslims on a single platform:

“Millat kai saath raabta istawaar rakh

Paywasta reh shajar say umeed-e-bahar rakh”

“Fard qaim rabt-e-millat say hai tanha kuch nahin

Mauj hai darya mein bayroon-e-darya kuch nahin”

He likened Muslim youngsters with “Shaheen” (Falcon) and gave them the inspiration to have the vision, the flight, the character and the attitude of a Falcon. He established that this character and attitude would actually enable them to reach their destiny, to achieve what they deserve and to regain their lost glory.

“Tu Shaheen hai Parwaaz hai kaam tera

Tere saamnay aasmaan aur bhi hai”

“Nahin tera nasheman qasr-e-sultani kai gumbad par

Tu Shaheen hai basera kar pahaarhoon ki chatanon mein”

Iqbal then led the Muslims towards even broader scope and higher goal. He was a visionary, an ideologue and a foreseer, He saw it long ago that the Islamic empire will be resurrected yet again, no matter what happens, no matter how adverse would apparently be the conditions for Muslims, no matter what the elite of the world plans, he had his faith in just one fact that Allah is the best of all planners. He was convinced that the Almighty has decided for this nation to rise again and this time it will be in the true spirit of Islam.

He further saw, even before the creation of Pakistan that the Muslims of this Islamic state to be established in the sub-continent will ultimately lead this rise of Islam. It is their destiny and a duty that has been assigned to this nation. With his poetry, Iqbal unveiled this word and also urged Muslims to be prepared for it, get ready for it and to work towards achieving it:

“Sabaq phir parh, Sadaqat ka, Adalat ka, Shuja’at ka

Lia jaye ga tujh say kaam dunia kia imaamat ka”

“Yaqeen afraad ka sarmaaya-e-tameer-e-millat hai

Yehi qoowat hai jo soorat gar-e-taqdeer-e-millat hai”

At one point, Pakistan Movement was surrounded by total frustration and despair. Muhammad Ali Jinnah was so disheartened that he flew to London and settled there leaving everything behind. It was Allama Iqbal who gave him the spiritual inspiration that he needed and brought him back. It was Iqbal’s spiritual support and presence in the background, which transformed Muhammad Ali Jinnah into Quaid-e-Azam.

Allama Iqbal left this world in 1938, about 9 years before Pakistan’s creation, but his poetry had already set the Muslim souls on fire and ignited burning flames of love in the hearts and complete devotion to achieve the impossible, do the unthinkable.

Pakistan resolution was passed in Lahore in 1940 and an independent, sovereign state for the Muslims of Sub-continent came into being on August 14, 1947. It was just 17 years after Iqbal dreamt about it and transfused the vision in Muslims. Almighty blessed us with the gift of Pakistan where Muslims could live with peace, harmony and freedom and practice the religion of Islam in its true sense.

Unfortunately, Iqbal’s dream was only partially realized ever since independence. We were blessed with a sacred Islamic state but we converted into a mere piece of land. Since the time of its inception till today, we have been unable to take Pakistan to the heights it deserved; we couldn’t make it the fortress of Islam. We hadn’t established the systems on the basis of Islamic teachings, and as a result, Pakistan ended up as a state with injustice, conflicts, economic and social problems, resource misuse and mismanagement, corrupt leaders and bad governance.

Pakistan was hence created but never completed or ‘realized’. The people of Pakistan have been waiting for a time when the dreams that were seen at the time of its creation, will come true. They have been waiting for a system that would facilitate them, an environment that will liberate them from their troubles and desolation.

That wait is about to be over! The winds of change have already started to blow. The scenario is changing and the dynamics of the state are taking the right direction! The Shaheens of Iqbal have finally awakened. They have realized what went wrong with their country and how to correct it. They have understood what Pakistan was meant to be and what the traitors and disloyal people along with their foreign masters are trying to transform it into. The youth of Pakistan is now recognizing, why our enemies fear Pakistan and why they want to destabilize it. They are afraid of the potential of the Muslims of Pakistan, but ultimately they are scared of its destiny.

Very close to his last days, Iqbal wrote his masterpiece “Iblees ki Majlis-e-Shura” (Devil’s Executive Meeting) (read full at bottom). He said:

ہے اگر مجھ کو خطر کوئی تو اس امت سے ہے

جس کی خاکستر میں ہے اب تک شرار آرزو

“Hai Khatar koi mujh ko to is ummat say hai

Jis ki khaakister mein hai ab tuk Sharaar-e-Aarzoo”

عصر حاضر کے تقاضاؤں سے ہے لیکن یہ خوف

ہو نہ جائے آشکارا شرع پیغمبر کہیں

“Asr-e-haazir kai taqazaaon say hai lekin yeh khuaf

Ho na jaye aashkaara Shar’a-e-Paighambar kaheen”

All sorts of efforts are being made and conspiracies have been crafted to curb the potential of Pakistan. But as Iqbal predicted, a wave of self-realization is propagating across the country. Despite all the frustration, problems, evil designs of both internal and external elements, the awakening is happening.

“Millat-e-Bayza ki phir sheeraza bandee hai

Shakh-e-Hashmi karnay ko hai phir barg-e-bar paida”

“Ata momin ko phir dargah-e-haq say honay wala hai

Shikoh-e-Turkamani, zehen-e-Hindi, nutq-e-Araabi”

We, the youth of Pakistan are now geared up with all our passion to realize the unfulfilled part of Iqbal’s dream. We now stand together to serve, build, protect and defend our beloved Pakistan. Our elders brought Pakistan into existence by Allah’s will after countless sacrifices and we are also ready to shed our lives for our country if need be.

On this day, we promise Hakeem-ul-Ummat, our spiritual leader, guide and mentor, Allama Iqbal, that we’ll bring his mission to accomplishment. We will do anything to take Pakistan to its destiny. We will do what we can to put in place the system the ideology on the basis of which Pakistan was created. We’ll put in all efforts to bring justice, peace, harmony and prosperity to our beloved land in accordance with our religious teachings.

We promise that we will prepare Pakistan to take up its fated role in the world and we will Insha’Allah take Pakistan towards its ultimate Takmeel.

“Aflaak say ata hai naaloon ka jawaab aakhir

Kartay hein khitaab aakhir, uthtay hein hijaab aakhir

Mein tujh ko batata hoon taqdeer-e-umam kia hai

Shamsheer-o-sinaa awwal, Taoos-o-rabaab aakhir

Khilwat ki gharhee guzree, jalwat ki gharheee ayee

Chhutnay ko hai bujli say aaghosh-e-sahaab aakhir”

اس میں کیا شک ہے کہ محکم ہے یہ ابلیسی نظام

پختہ تر اس سے ہوئے خوئے غلامی میں عوام

ان کی فطرت کا تقاضا ہے نماز بے قیام

آرزو اول تو پیدا ہو نہیں سکتی کہیں

ہو کہیں پیدا تو مر جاتی ہے یا رہتی ہے خام

یہ ہماری سعی پیہم کی کرامت ہے کہ آج

صوفی و ملا ملوکیت کے بندے ہیں تمام

طبع مشرق کے لیے موزوں یہی افیون تھی

ورنہ قوالی سے کچھ کم تر نہیں علم کلام!

ہے طواف و حج کا ہنگامہ اگر باقی تو کیا

کند ہو کر رہ گئی مومن کی تیغ بے نیام

کس کی نومیدی پہ حجت ہے یہ فرمان جدید؟

ہے جہاد اس دور میں مرد مسلماں پر حرام!

خیر ہے سلطانی جمہور کا غوغا کہ شر

تو جہاں کے تازہ فتنوں سے نہیں ہے با خبر!

جو ملوکیت کا اک پردہ ہو، کیا اس سے خطر!

ہم نے خود شاہی کو پہنایا ہے جمہوری لباس

مجلس ملت ہو یا پرویز کا دربار ہو

اس سے بڑھ کر اور کیا ہوگا طبیعت کا فساد

توڑ اس کا رومہ الکبرے کے ایوانوں میں دیکھ

آل سیزر کو دکھایا ہم نے پھر سیزر کا خواب

گاہ بالد چوں صنوبر، گاہ نالد چوں رباب،

میں تو اس کی عاقبت بینی کا کچھ قائل نہیں

جس نے افرنگی سیاست کو کیا یوں بے حجاب

:ابلیس کو مخاطب کرکے

تو نے جب چاہا، کیا ہر پردگی کو آشکار

آب و گل تیری حرارت سے جہان سوز و ساز

کانپتے ہیں کوہسار و مرغزار و جوئبار

میرے آقا! وہ جہاں زیر و زبر ہونے کو ہے

جس جہاں کا ہے فقط تیری سیادت پر مدار

ہے مرے دست تصرف میں جہان رنگ و بو

کیا زمیں، کیا مہر و مہ، کیا آسمان تو بتو

دیکھ لیں گے اپنی آنکھوں سے تماشا غرب و شرق

میں نے جب گرما دیا اقوام یورپ کا لہو

کیا امامان سیاست، کیا کلیسا کے شیوخ

سب کو دیوانہ بنا سکتی ہے میری ایک ہو

کارگاہ شیشہ جو ناداں سمجھتا ہے اسے

توڑ کر دیکھے تو اس تہذیب کے جام و سبو!

دست فطرت نے کیا ہے جن گریبانوں کو چاک

مزدکی منطق کی سوزن سے نہیں ہوتے رفو

کب ڈرا سکتے ہیں مجھ کو اشتراکی کوچہ گرد

یہ پریشاں روزگار، آشفتہ مغز، آشفتہ مو

ہے اگر مجھ کو خطر کوئی تو اس امت سے ہے

جس کی خاکستر میں ہے اب تک شرار آرزو

خال خال اس قوم میں اب تک نظر آتے ہیں وہ

کرتے ہیں اشک سحر گاہی سے جو ظالم وضو

جانتا ہے، جس پہ روشن باطن ایام ہے

مزدکیت فتنہ فردا نہیں، اسلام ہے!

جانتا ہوں میں یہ امت حامل قرآں نہیں

ہے وہی سرمایہ داری بندہ مومن کا دیں

جانتا ہوں میں کہ مشرق کی اندھیری رات میں

بے ید بیضا ہے پیران حرم کی آستیں

عصر حاضر کے تقاضاؤں سے ہے لیکن یہ خوف

ہو نہ جائے آشکارا شرع پیغمبر کہیں

الحذر! آئین پیغمبر سے سو بار الحذر

حافظ ناموس زن، مرد آزما، مرد آفریں

موت کا پیغام ہر نوع غلامی کے لیے

نے کوئی فغفور و خاقاں، نے فقیر رہ نشیں

کرتا ہے دولت کو ہر آلودگی سے پاک صاف

منعموں کو مال و دولت کا بناتا ہے امیں

اس سے بڑھ کر اور کیا فکر و عمل کا انقلاب

پادشاہوں کی نہیں، اللہ کی ہے یہ زمیں!

چشم عالم سے رہے پوشیدہ یہ آئیں تو خوب

یہ غنیمت ہے کہ خود مومن ہے محروم یقیں

ہے یہی بہتر الہیات میں الجھا رہے

یہ کتاب اللہ کی تاویلات میں الجھا رہے

توڑ ڈالیں جس کی تکبیریں طلسم شش جہات

ہو نہ روشن اس خدا اندیش کی تاریک رات

ابن مریم مر گیا یا زندہ جاوید ہے

ہیں صفات ذات حق، حق سے جدا یا عین ذات؟

آنے والے سے مسیح ناصری مقصود ہے

یا مجدد، جس میں ہوں فرزند مریم کے صفات؟

ہیں کلام اللہ کے الفاظ حادث یا قدیم

امت مرحوم کی ہے کس عقیدے میں نجات؟

کیا مسلماں کے لیے کافی نہیں اس دور میں

یہ الہیات کے ترشے ہوئے لات و منات؟

تم اسے بیگانہ رکھو عالم کردار سے

تا بساط زندگی میں اس کے سب مہرے ہوں مات

خیر اسی میں ہے، قیامت تک رہے مومن غلام

چھوڑ کر اوروں کی خاطر یہ جہان بے ثبات

ہے وہی شعر و تصوف اس کے حق میں خوب تر

جو چھپا دے اس کی آنکھوں سے تماشائے حیات

ہر نفس ڈرتا ہوں اس امت کی بیداری سے میں

ہے حقیقت جس کے دیں کی احتساب کائنات

مست رکھو ذکر و فکر صبحگاہی میں اسے

پختہ تر کر دو مزاج خانقاہی میں اسے

Lahore, Pakistan

We are watching it happen in the streets. The recurring nightmare has become a grim, new reality for the people of Pakistan. After watching the horrors of the U.S. invasions and occupations of Iraq and neighboring Afghanistan for 8 years, the “war on terror” has finally arrived in The Land of the Pure. Obama is fulfilling his campaign promise to Pakistan. The sudden arrival of U.S. marines, U.S. military Hummers, the hired killers of Blackwater, houses barricaded for U.S. personnel in Islamabad and the construction of the world’s largest U.S. “Embassy” are terrorizing this nation of 180 million people. The U.S. slaughter and destruction in Iraq and neighboring Afghanistan for the last 8 years warn them of what may lie in store for them, their families, their land.

The U.S. Marines

Until this landing of U.S. forces, the nation’s spokesman for Foreign Affairs had been denying that 1000 U.S. marines were on their way to Islamabad. The thousand marines are now in the capital city of Islamabad. Some of them may be quietly slipping into Balochistan where the presence of JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command) have been reported by foreign journalists. But most are here to defend what will be the largest U.S. embassy/fortress in the world, now under construction and to spearhead the invasion and occupation.

Costs to the U.S. Taxpayer

The total cost for housing and and general support for the marines alone will be US$112.5 million. US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson said the money is allocated as follows: “$5 million was for Marine quarters, $53.5 for housing infrastructure, $18 million for improvement of general services office area, and $36 million for temporary duty quarters and community support facilities.”

In Patterson’s explanation of the massive expansion of the U.S. Embassy she talked about 4 Billion (that’s with a “B”) dollars:

Ambassador Patterson did not clarify whether the $4 Billion covers the construction which will make this embassy the largest in the world. When this construction is seen in context and coordination with the new level of U.S. occupation of Pakistan, it looks more like a permanent military base than an embassy for running military and covert operations not only in Pakistan but also in the region.

Weapons and Hummers

Eye witnesses and informed journalists have been reporting sightings of U.S. personnel in Islamabad for the past week or so, but now they are seen moving freely throughout the capital. The law (Section 144) provides that Pakistanis who own guns are not permitted to carry them in Islamabad. But U.S. personnel are showing Pakistanis that they are above the law as they openly brandish their weapons. It has also been confirmed that 3,000 U.S. military Hummers, locked and loaded are awaiting dispatch in Karachi’s Port Qasim. For millions of Pakistanis news of these Hummers conjures up images of U.S. troops charging through the streets of Iraqi cities, armed to the teeth, terrifying and often killing unarmed civilians.

Blackwater and the CIA

Pakistanis have known about the 300 U.S. military “advisers” lodged in Tarbela. But news of the arrival of the notorious Blackwater mercenaries in addition to the thousand U.S. marines are riveting their attention. In Pakistan, Blackwater is trading its tainted name for a telling name “Xe Worldwide”, – the name behind which these paid killers are now hiding.

Also, last week, Creative Associates International Inc (CAII), a CIA front, has been operating in Peshawar. They have now sealed off a road and set up shop near the houses of senior Pakistani officials in Islamabad, directly across from a school.

Dr. Shireen M. Mazari is a scholar and commentator on Strategic Studies and Political Science from Pakistan. She has a Ph.D. from Colombia University and was Director General of Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, Pakistan and former Chairperson of Department of Defense and Strategic Studies at the Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. She is critical of the relationship the Pakistan government has with the United States and India. Speaking for an opposition political party (Tehreek-e-Insaaf), Dr. Shireen Mazari speaks about the new arrival of U.S. forces in Pakistan:

The Pearl Continental, a luxury hotel in Peshawar was bombed on June 9, 2009. The U.S. routinely blames these attacks on Muslim terrorists. The U.S. has also routinely sabotaged peace agreements between the Pakistan government and various resistance groups in Pakistan. Attacks like this are used to justify the current invasion and occupation by the United States.

Given little attention in the corporate media, Peshawar’s Pearl Continental Hotel was bombed on June 9, 2009. At the time of the bombing, Pakistani media reported officially that it was housing U.S. personnel at the time but did not mention Blackwater. However, Blackwater’s name began to surface in rumours and unofficial reports after the Peshawar bombing.

On August 5, 2009, Ahmed Quraishi, political analyst, columnist and independent owner of a news website reported on the insertion of U.S. Marines, Blackwater, the CIA and military hardware into Pakistan:

Meanwhile, when asked about the expansion of the embassy, U.S. Ambassador Anne W. Patterson was “visibly shaken” and replied, “I’m speechless. To spy on Pakistan we don’t need a big US embassy.” Quickly recovering, she added, “And we don’t need to spy either.” Patterson went on to say that Pakistan could turn into a “family station” – whatever that means to a U.S. colonial bureaucrat.

Ahmed further explains the CIA’s cover for the Blackwater mercenaries:

Keep in mind that Dr. Shireen Mazari who is in a position to know, stated flatly, “CAII’s Craig Davis who was deported has now returned to Peshawar!”

But Ahmed Quraishi explains the denial by the U.S. Embassy:

Finally, Ahmed discusses a U.S. diplomat met secretly with an Indian diplomat inside Pakistan, knowing full well that India is considered to be an enemy state of Pakistan:

In addition, many U.S. sponsored NGO’s are working to create news reports in mainstream media which are pro-U.S. For this purpose, many Pakistani analysts, retired generals, businessmen, journalists, and academics are being recruited. As Ahmed Quraishi said, “this NGO is not an NGO”, i.e. some Non Governmental Organizations operate under the control and direction of governments who use them for covert operations in foreign countries and fund them surreptitiously.

Conclusion

It’s clear that the current government has given full privileges to the US. They neither know how, nor want to draw a line against U.S. interference in Pakistani affairs. To put it bluntly, they are surrendering the sovereignty of Pakistan to a foreign power. Dr. Shireen Mazari says, “Whatever the US embassy gives out … the terrified Pakistani leadership echoes.” The objectives of the U.S. are clear: Deeper U.S. penetration will result in the destabilisation of Pakistan, leading to destabilization of the entire region. These U.S. military installations also strengthening their encirclement of Iran. The Pakistani political opposition parties are lip stuck at all these developments. The main reason for their silence is that they are as corrupt as the ruling PPP. No political party in Pakistan is in the mood to resist US hegemony. The Pakistan Army no longer shows any interest in directly interfering with political decisions. After the disastrous eight years under the military dictatorship of Musharraf, the people are also not ready for the Pakistan military to intervene in the political life of the country. The TTP terrorists have just been brought under control – barely. Now millions of Pakistanis are terrified by their new, unwelcome guests from the west – the U.S. terrorists. We will now have to learn to tolerate and survive under this growing and increasingly dangerous U.S. colonization of Pakistan.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has drafted a regulation called, “Monitoring and Reconciliation of Telephony Traffic Regulations, 2009”, and has asked industry to give input on said draft before September 16th, 2009.

As per intended regulation, all telecom service providers will install system at their own cost to make it possible for authority to monitor telephony traffic.

Regulation says that such a monitoring system should have at least following features

• Capability to monitor, control, measure and record traffic in real-time;

• Capability for complete signaling record, including but not limited for billing;

• Capability to accurately measure the quality of service;

• A complete list of the Pakistani customers; and

• Complete details of capacity leased by the licensee(s) to their customers.

Once regulated, this monitoring system will enable PTA to check and analyze voice and data traffic flowing in and out of a network, from inside and outside the country.

Draft says that purpose of this regulation is to monitor and enforce the accurate presentation of the total traffic terminated through networks to measure and record for billing verification, detect & control grey traffic, and determine the quality of licensed services.
