1JZ-GTE VVT-i Turbo - The Mean Machine
Well, to be true 1JZ-GTE VVT-i is one of the reasons I wanted to go into this project. Aaqib, a dear friend had long reserved this engine for me ever after quite a lot of offers from his other clients! Really, I’m grateful to him for letting me this engine. Today, the advances have been paid for this engine and another very well-known Celica TA23.
I have been through a lot of blogs and forums discussing 1JZ swap in TA22/23 and RA23s and the feedback pulled me more towards getting this swap immediately, without even thinking twice.
Some people may have preferred 2JZ over 1JZ but to me, Aaqib bhai’s advice came first for I’m accustomed to trust not people’s ‘assumptions’ but experts’ analysis & experiences! And then, for he had described this engine as:
An engine that has immense torque and hp through its power-band will make good use of the taller gear ratios of the auto transmission. Lesser wheel-spin off the line and quicker shifts will generate better quarter-mile times as well. These stock transmissions are built to handle power up to 700 horses.
So, Here we go with the little bit of specs:
Displacement: 2491cc
Power: 280bhp / 6200 rpm
Initial Torque: 377.56 NM / 2400 rpm
Power density: 5.46
Engine type: Water Cooling Serial 6 Cylinder DOHC 24 Valve Turbo
Fuel system: EFI
Fuel type: Unleaded Premium Gasoline (High Octane)
Compression Ratio: 9.0:1
Bore: 86mm
Stroke: 71.5mm
…
that’s it for now. I’d keep this part updated as soon as we start the engine swap.
