I have been on road through the last week, from Lahore to Islamabad and further to tarbela, topi and peshawar searching for pristine TA22/23/28 as the TA23 I now possess has been asked by a friend whom I couldn’t say no to.
Now, the candidate is the pristine TA22!
As the TA22 required a complete restoration job, it’s been with denter through the past week (and still is). Denter has scratched almost its entire paint in order to redo the exterior so to make it ready for new paint. In here, these jobs used to be quite tough and time taking due to lack of sandblasters and electromechanical instruments, so the labour has to work using just hands, hammers and grinders.
Moreover, the front & rear seats, doors, roof and the dashboard had been removed and given to the interior & cosmetics guy for restoration etc. It’d soon be done.

well… brother, as you might have read, these both celicas took me a headache!!! I had to wander around a thousand kilometer from where I live for three times, and then I could get my hands on the Blue Devil! Tell you what, such old-school is really hard to find nowadays. I’m not saying so to praise my car indirectly, but really… one thing, you wont and cant find in market, nor on Pakwheels or any portal. Chalté phirté nazar aa jaé tau alag baat. I had seen a blue one with an uncle at Lahore (Jail Rd; he owns an auto-workshop there) but he wasn’t in mood to sell that, at all! His words were- i still remember- ‘not even for 3lac’
Well, you can find a Mark-II easily, yeah go for 75-to-76 (embossed hood) you can find a simple, rough and old one for around less than 1lac and a very good one for around 1.5lac to 2lac!
hey hi buddy was shocked and plz 2 see tht u had my dads ex ride rie1818 it was his he imported it in the 1970s it was yellow then and had a black top back then he rgd it himself even i have the pics and will upload em on pakwheels its a uk spec car and was sold to the actor nadem ;ater on all we knew was it was repainted 2 red! as the person didnt like the yellow and black combo! i have been looking for this car since ages! dude its gr8 2 see its been restored back by some1 urself and look forward 2 see it back on the road one thing whenever u wana sell it i will be ready for this as it brings back loads of memories!
